Serious Pitfalls to
Spiritual Progress
Paul's words warn us of...
1. THE PITFALL OF CARNAL CHRISTIANITY (vs. 1-4) There are only two kinds of people in the world.
1) The Saved (2:15) "spiritual man"
2) The Unsaved (2:14) "natural man" Also there are two kinds of Christians.
1) The Spiritual... or maturing believer (3:1)
2) The Carnal... underdeveloped... spiritual baby Christian. Paul's words have also warned us of....
2. THE PITFALL OF COMPLACENT CHRISTIANITY To keep from being complacent we must not lose sight of... Our Place, Purpose, Prize, and Power in God's Work.
3. THE PITFALL OF CARELESS CHRISTIANITY
4. THE PITFALL OF COMPROMISING CHRISTIANITY. Compromise.....clever, seductive, subtle, deadly, is one of most effective tactics ever invented by the devil for use against Christians. How can we avoid this pitfall? I believe our text teaches us two things we must do.
1. WE MUST LIVE WITH AN AWARENESS OF THE SPIRITS PRESENCE (verse 16)
1. The Spirit's Presence in the Believer is a Fact.
2. The Spirit's Presence in the Believer has a Function.
1) Encourage Us
2) Enable Us ...
2. WE MUST LIVE WITH AN AWARENESS OF SINS POWER (VERSE 17)
1. Sin will bring Defilement into the believers life.
2. Sin will bring Discipline into the believers life.
Perhaps today the Spirit of God is speaking to you about an in road of compromise. Don't let it continue. Deal with it today!
